Windows "Unauthenticating" itself
We are a school running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, with an AD, DNS, Deployment, and KMS services. This server currently is running smoothly.
We have a problem were no matter how we install windows 7 they become unauthenticated. The work for about a week or two, right before the computers go south windows says that an unauthorized change was done to this system, and we need to re-activate windows.
When we use the script
slmgr.vbs /ato
It says product not found. If we try to activate it, we get the error 0x80072EFE, The computer is not running windows Core Edition.
The systems then lose the WorkStation Service and eventually become unusable. The computers that experience this doesn't follow a pattern. It is literally one system here and another there at random.
We have tried clean installs on everything but the server. As of the moment we cannot afford to bring the server down to reinstall as we are currently in the middle of the school year.

Hi,
I would like to confirm what error code was encountered when trying to use a KMS to activate Windows 7? For more information about
how to troubleshoot Volume Activation error codes, please refer to the following Microsoft KB article:
How to troubleshoot Volume Activation error codes on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista-based computers
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938450
Error code 0x80072EFE means ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_ABORTED. If you want to activate Windows 7 without KMS, please make sure the Internet network connectivity
is good.
Please also read the following Microsoft TechNet article for how to use KMS activation:
Volume Activation Deployment Guide

Actually the problem was a windows update of KB971033. We removed the update and the computers stopped having the problem. It seem very disconnected but after a lot of looking into the problem a co-worker found that update to be a culprit. If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door
